NTE PROCESS IS CARBON NEUTRAL
Climate change, extreme weather conditions and declining biodiversity are increasingly impacting all business activities, as well as the lives of individuals. The relevance of the issue is also underlined by the constant regulatory intervention of the European Union. Indeed, through the definition of ad hoc standards, the EU has set itself precise targets: to limit the global warming within 1,5°C threshold and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
For NTE Process, energy efficiency, conscious use of resources and reducing CO₂ emissions are some of the cornerstones of its sustainability path. To this end, NTE Process constantly measures its impacts and acts daily to reduce its carbon footprint.
It has not been enough for NTE Process to have measured through GHG protocol and reported on direct emissions (Scope 1) and indirect emissions (Scope 2) as well as to have reduced the carbon impact through ad-hoc efficiency actions, such as the installation of photovoltaic plants on all our Offices. The Company has decided to finance a project that would offset the remaining 124,4 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent produced during the year 2022.
The project we have chosen is “Wind Power” based in India, in the state of Karnataka not far from Mumbai, where NTE Process India’s headquarters are located. It consists of 30 wind turbine generators of 2 MW each generating clean electricity with utilization of wind energy, which is equivalent to powering 32,500 households every year.
The co-benefits generated by Wind Power Project contribute to realising some of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations within the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and also actively supported by NTE Process, such as access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy systems (SDG 7); promoting sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth that ensures full and productive employment and decent work for all (SDG 8); and targeting urgent action to combat climate change (SDG 13).
NTE Process’s commitment to ESG action is also reflected in its choice of this project: the NTE Process India Office is located in Mumbai, a metropolis not far from where the plan is being developed. This makes NTE Process’ aim even clearer: to actively act on the areas directly affected by the operations.
This action makes the sustainability path of NTE Process even more transparent and visible!
